When Multi-factor Authentication is enabled for Office 365, some applications and services require a separate, unique password be created and used to sign in.
If you encounter issues signing in to an Office 365 application or service, such as the Outlook desktop client and mobile app, Skype for Business desktop client and mobile app, or other third-party integrations, it is recommended that you try using an App Password.
1. Navigate to https://account.activedirectory.windowsazure.com/AppPasswords.aspx
2. If prompted, sign in to your Office 365 account using your e-mail address and domain password
3. Select create
4. Provide a name for the App Password (e.g. Outlook iOS Password), then select next
5. Highlight and copy the displayed App Password or select copy password to clipboard
Note: you may receive a pop-up in your browser indicating trouble copying the password to the clipboard if using the copy password to clipboard button. If so, simply copy the password within the pop-up, then press Ctrl +C on your keyboard to copy the text.
6. Paste or enter the provided App Password into the service you are trying to log in to.
Important: Your App Password will only be shown once. Leave the App Password visible on the screen and do not close the tab or browser window with the password displayed until you have properly logged in to the application or service.
You should now be able to log in to the Office 365 application or service.
